The Full Story
About
I’m Hannah Jean – a UK-born painter now living in Northern Italy, where the mountains meet the sky and inspiration is everywhere.
I’ve never been someone who wanted to stay in one place. I’ve always followed the pull of elsewhere – whether that meant crossing borders or staying closer to home, just looking for a shift in perspective. That sense of movement and longing is at the heart of everything I create. My art is born from wanderlust – a deep desire to explore the world and preserve the way it feels. Each piece is a kind of memory: a need to hold onto how a place felt, even if I’m no longer there.
After getting married and moving abroad, I’ve entered a new season of life — one that now includes the transformation of becoming a mother. These changes have brought a different rhythm to my work: slower, more reflective, but also more connected.
I work mainly in acrylics, combining rich texture with expressive brushwork. My style blends realism and abstraction – letting you not only see a place, but feel its atmosphere. Whether it's the misty blues of the coast or the golden warmth of an Italian hillside, Whether it’s a moment of escape or a sense of belonging, I want the viewer to find something personal in the work.
Fragments of Elsewhere
I don’t paint exact places — I paint how they felt.
A sky before rain. Morning stillness. The rhythm of moving through somewhere new.
I paint to hold onto those moments

Art as Escape
Creating is a way to step outside of everything else.
It gives me space to slow down, reset, and reconnect with myself.
Since becoming a mother and moving abroad, that space has become even more important — a quiet place to process change and hold onto what matters.
